South Korea Pupdate

A few months ago this saga began yall, and we saw some horrifying videos taken in S. Korea from a “dog vendor” (a meat farm/butcher) of cages upon cages of mamas and their babies.
.
We came to you to help us save them…as many as we could. Our expectations were tempered with reality knowing that we COULDNT save them all…yet we know thats what many of yall hoped we could do. And in our hearts, we wanted to do the same.
.
$3000 is what we raised from our amazing SDH family — YOU GUYS — and at best we thought that would be 5 puppies. Marianne and I went LIVE a few weeks ago with an update (on why there wasn’t much movement yet) promising movement would come soon.
.
Well, #plottwist … as fate would have it, the “vendor” decided to close his business!!!
.
( warning this story gets worse before it gets better
)We dont have the full story on that YET but some of the contributing factors were likely:
* increasing public outcry by the younger generations in S. Korea disapproving of this practice
* EXTREME heat this summer over there which was (very sadly) taking the life of some of these pups …
.
As a result of this decision the meat vendor stopped feeding the animals altogether. 😵😡😤😲😭Yes even IN their heat and humidity. As you can imagine, I’m sure, this has resulted in more puppy deaths and illness. Melissa (the rescuer on the ground in SK) and Sally (her rescue partner here in the states) secured a safe space for ALL the remaining pups and moms!!! A large kennel space and couldn’t bear to see more of these poor souls die due to human negligence.
.
The vendor said that he’d be willing to start feeding the dogs again if he got paid for them by the rescue / if ALL of them got bought…they negotiated a price. $3000. For about 9 moms and 30 puppies.
.
The money we raised to vet and transport the 5-6 pups we originally planned…well, we made the executive decision to HELP ALL OF THEM!!
.
They’re now safe I believe (some for sure if not all), or in the process of being moved asap…but either way are being fed again.
.
And now the work begins. You guys these pups are sick, malnourished, traumatized and still in need of help. Right now they’re SAFE. But we still need to vet & treat them and get as many of them transported safely once the weather cools.
.
SO we are BACK TO FUNDRAISING!!
.
For context – to fly one dog to the PNW it’ll cost us $650 per dog/per puppy. If we can raise another $3k (give or take) we can fly 5 of those puppies here. $6000 – ten, and so on… The more money we raise the more pups we can fly here and find #furever homes for too!
This $650 covers everything in SK – their boarding, vetting, any medical issues that arise, medicines if needed, food, care, love, crate and flight and all necessary paperwork to get them to the PNW.
.
We hope you can support our decision to SAVE THEM ALL and end this atrocity — but now lets get them to safety here in the USA and to BEND!
.
We are leaning on you guys to help us raise more money. WILL YOU HELP US? Donate what you can – get as many people to our fundraisers as possible – and STAY LOUD! ❤
.
What do you think? Can we do this? Are you glad we SAVED THEM ALL? We might not have the means to save them all in the future, but at least this time (with THESE furbabies) we were able to….
