This post is in memory of Xena who crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday. She was rescued in Mexico by @rivierarescue & SDH helped fly her to OR and found her the best family.
We met her this July soon after she was rescued (see the videos with my kids). She was skinny, had a huge tumor on her face and her skin was a mess yet she was so happy. I had to give her the life she never had.
Sadly, years of neglect from a family that over breed her then dumped her on the street when she was no longer needed led to her passing way too soon. It’s not fair to her or any of these dogs to have such a horrible life. I wish we could have found you sooner Xena but I’m glad you of all dogs was rescued and got to experience life like it should be, even if for such short time. The last few months were the best she could have asked for. Thank you @zimmermankelly3 for loving her as hard as anyone could love a dog and doing everything possible to fight for her. The pics were taken yesterday & she looked her best even tho everything inside her was failing.
RIP Xena. I promise to continue to fight for dogs like you.
On a personal note, Xena is just ONE reason why it’s so important not to buy from a breeder. This girl made money for a family & look how they treated her. No medical care, left to die & fend for herself when she was NEVER a street dog and didn’t know how to survive. So many dogs are fighting to survive despite the situation they are born into and would love the chance to be loved, pet, medical care, food/water. I promise you these dogs are forever thankful and show gratitude in ways that will melt your heart. Many, if not all of my SDH families can attest to this.
Please #adoptdontshop and in order to continue to fight for these dogs and pay for their transport and medical care please consider donating at

We can’t save them all but we are doing our best to make a difference in as many places as possible & change the lives of as many dogs as we can.
Thank u for following, sharing, tagging, adopting, fostering, volunteering, transporting and/or donating as YOU are helping make a difference and are a hero to these dogs.
